Would give Zero Stars if I could! Avoid at all costs

Cars are in bad condition. 2 times they wouldnt unlock. Customer service is non-existent and the App doesnt work well. Total rip off. Spent over 200 dollars for 3 trips totaling 5 hours and 10 miles. RIPOFF!!

Worst decision Ive made!

Ive subscribed for a year. 6 months out I checked that Ive paid monthly of 10$ for a damage waiver fee. Called them to cancel it. Instead they cancelled my whole subscription. When I called them back they said my grace period is up. I connected with the manager and he assured my that my account will be up & running again within 1 day. That didnt happen. I then signed up for enterprise CarShare because they have lower & better rates. Zipcar rarely have a 7$/hr car excluding tax. What a waste.

Pathetic app n website

Doesnt seem like they are serious about running the company. The work of the developers is third grade, possible the worst user experience. Always has trouble completing user request. Login credentials dont work on the app although they work on the website.

Love the service, hate the app

No problems with cars, customer service, or the company. But the app hangs inexplicably when searching, and there are flow issues when changing an existing reservation (simpler to cancel and start over). I end up using the desktop web site most of the time.

Great idea, not so great execution

I have had a zip card membership for 6 weeks and I have yet to receive a zip card to the correct address. I was not aware that if you park under a parking garage that you would not have service to unlock the car from your mobile phone. So from there I was locked out of the card and waiting for the road side assistance to arrive and the guy (Augustine) was horrific. He was extremely rude and very unprofessional. Then today I had to pick up my sister (who is 14 from the airport and I was not able to catch the train) and I wasnt able to use the lock and unlock function on on my phone because they blocked my access, not even allowing me to make a reservation. Its ridiculous that I am paying and dont even get to use the features that are suppose to be provided in the app. They dont have it together. Ive heard car2go is better

Cannot login

Every time I press login it just shows 404 error. How could this be a released app??My phone has no problem running any other apps, nor be rooted.

Just Doesnt Work

Zipcars app simply doesnt work consistently. Crashes often. Reservations dont always appear. When they do, it often leaves out important info like location. Changing the reservation doesnt always go through, risking late fees. Better to use the mobile site until they clean this up.

Awful

I got a zip car account 2 days before I needed to drive 2 hours to get my brother from the airport. I reserved a car, and looked into their policies that you can unlock a car without having a zip card on some models. Convinced everything would be ok, I went to the lot where the car was. Apparently the chip was broken, and was unable to be unlocked, which begs the question of why it was even available for reservation. There was a car next to it in the lot that was also unable to be used because of its lack of keys. Customer service offered for me to get an Uber ride to the airport and back and that they would reimburse me, but I had just moved some money around and didnt have enough in my account to do that. Their solution was reserving the next open car slot on all of their cars in my city, which was set for 2&1/2 hours later, and I had to tell my brother to wait at the airport for 2 and a half more hours. Honestly I dont even think any maintenance is done on the cars, because the same thing would have happened to the next person who tried to use that car.

Crap-o-la

The app doesnt always work to unlock the car and drive. I was stranded in a small town for 6 hours and had to wait for a service guy twice and be towed back to NYC. And then zipcar said they would only refund me for half the cost of the reservation because I was able to drive the car to my destination, just not back home. Total crap.

I had to scan my license and my credit card AND pay the annual membership of $35 before I could look for cars. Really didnt like that.

So imagine what would happen if Mike Levine who owns Yellow, Checker and a bunch of other cab companies bought Uber. What would happen? A same amount of lack of innovation and horrible service they are known for. Zipcar used to work great before AVIS bought them out. In fact it was a superior service that I could use on my old iPhone 3GS without any hiccups. The service has sadly changed with the old guard buying up Zipcar and literally destroying the brand by making it more AVIS FRIENDLY. Customer service at Zipcar used to be the best now AVIS has brought in their convict call center workers who can barely speak English. I like Zipcar but loath AVIS

Good for the most part

Zipcar has gotten me through a lot of situations that would have been difficult or impossible otherwise. However, its true that the cars dont seem to be maintained very well, and the app experience is hurting lately. Last 2 times Ive made reservations, they simply dont show up on the app, so when I want to quickly verify the address of the parking lot, I have to go to the mobile site now. Youll also see charges trickling in on your credit card for months after your trip (for tolls, etc) - this may not be totally their fault but I havent seen this happen so badly with Enterprise Car Share, for example.

Bad app, bad company

I have been trying to get a working account for MONTHS. I keep giving up. When I try to join, the system tells me I already have an account; when I try to use the account, the system tells me account not found. No customer service number on the app, long hold times, customer service reps with very heavy accents difficult to understand--you know the drill. Someone told me the problem would be fixed by midnight--wasnt fixed by midnight; now it will be fixed by 5pm and I wont need a zip car anymore. Dont use this company if you have an alternative!
