They Don’t give a hoot about you they hung up, transferred me to a coworker instead of a supervisor, supervisor talking to to me like every request I got their hands were tied.
The process of signing up should be easier and less buggy. Implement Apple Pay and integrate Onfindo well. Application fees should be waived.
At first, I was skeptical but I love Zipcar now
Living downtown in a city, zip car is a life saver when we need to pick up furniture or any other big items. Very convenient, nice support and cars are for the most part in great shape
I had a reservation that I booked 2 days in advance get cancelled an hour before the trip began. They were unable to find any replacements and I had to cancel my trip because of it. While customer service was kind, that still does not excuse the unreliability behind their service.
Convenient prices just too high thats all
Dont use this service at all costs
Even if you book a car which is available on the app, there’s no guarantee that you’ll get to use the car at the specified time. There seems to be no accountability after talking to the customer service however it’s clear it’s a management problem.
I rented a car last week and went to park in the public parking spot in my neighborhood, only to find it was blocked by another Zipcar and I had nowhere to park. I spent over an hour driving around looking for parking spots (on the phone with Zipcar support the whole time) where they recommended I park in a lot 1-4 miles away and 'walk home' despite renting the car amidst a busy day and nursing an injury. They promised repeatedly they were filing this incident on my account and I would not be charged if the car was towed or received parking tickets, only to be charged $100+ to both extend the car (which the employee lied and said was free since I spent the hour looking for parking and at a huge inconvenience to em) as well as for the parking ticket. I'm grateful I knew better than to leave it parked in a tow away zone because these scammers would've charged me $1k+ for that issue. After 5 calls, 3 emails they are now saying they don't have any record of the issue on my file (despite multiple employees seeing it before) and demanding I share evidence (which I don't have because it's a phone call). I just cancelled my membership and reported the fraud to my bank and the better business bureau. Do not use this company - they will charge you exorbitantly for things ttheir employees tell you to do, while refusing to provide any credit for the inconvenience and time lost (both trying to park and 5x calls later).
Cheaper to just use Turo or Avis
Will never ever use this app again. Was excited because there are zip cars close by and seemed like the best deal. Now I just feel used and dumb. Go with Turo or literally anyone else!
The same thing happened to me. They took my money
Way too expensive, don’t do it all yall plz find another way this is not worth it will send you into debt
Taking pictures before the trip wasted my time. Why didn’t Zip update us that this was now mandatory. Furthermore, the zip app camera doesn’t have flash. The interior photos are black. My car was dirty. I did take pics on my phone if you want them. After all that, the car would not start. I had to call customer support. I was late for my day. Considering changing car apps
My first and only Zipcar experience ended in my car not being able to start. The customer service rep was so rude and condescending especially when I asked for some sort of reimbursement for the time wasted and the stress it caused. Will not be using this again
This service seemed great and convenient. Sadly I was never able to use it. I applied under the rouse that the application would be as easy as 1,2,3. Take pictures of my drivers license and pay with a credit card and it would be approved in no time. I didn’t hear back for over a week. After escalating I was required to provide images of a passport, a utility bill proving my billing address, and I had to take a selfie holding my valid drivers license and “piece of paper with 'Zipcar' and today's date on it.” I’m not sure what the ransom type selfie would prove, but it does prove that Zipcar applications are not as easy as 1,2,3.
Picked up a Zipcar this AM from a location on the same street as my home. Got it home, loaded it with things I needed for errands that I would need to run before an important time-sensitive appointment. Got back into the Zipcar and it wouldn’t start. The battery was completely dead. No way to get me another car near my home. Day ruined.
These cars needs deep cleaning daily no one wants to drive a filthy car
What’s the point of booking the car, taking my money, and the car not being there where it’s supposed to be?? Received assistance on getting another car but it delayed my trip. Also, the card that is used to fill up the gas before you return it doesn’t even work! Cool concept but clearly something’s not working.
Bad customer service
I’m here with a car that I can’t get into the app is buffering on lock mode without actually locking the car. I had to call for cs to lock it in 32 degrees Fahrenheit weather with a wind chill. I have my son’s and my wife and they are freezing. The car is filthy inside and out. But I was in a crunch for time and couldn’t get another car. Now asking for manager they put on an endless hold and where still out here freezing. They just hung up on me.
Overall nice car
Zipcar would go down as the worst company I've ever encountered with! They charged me $400 late return fee for not being able to return the car due to an urgent matter. They suspended my account as well. Do not use this scam service ever!
Generally a good experience. Convenient. Customer service is always helpful
Their business model is very similar to a scam. Failure to provide important details, doesn’t make it easy to cancel, doesn’t explain rental process well. do not recommend .
My experience was horrible… And I’m actually very surprised! I made my reservation in advance, and when I got to the location where the car was suppose to be, it was not there. Apparently the person who had it before me didn’t bring it being back. Long story short, I ended up getting a car and, at this point it was 2 1/2 hours later from my initial reservation time. The car I did finally get was absolutely filthy!! The seats were stained and dirty and it smelled horrible! Apparently Zipcar does not clean their cars in between rides… After many calls to customer service, I was advised that I would be refunded for the car because of the condition it was in. Their representative sent me an email advising I’d be refunded and the it was processed… I’ve got nothing. My case appears close and all I’ve gotten was about $20 between a credit and a refund sent to my bank card. This was a totally upsetting experience and I just want to be refunded and done with this.
Make sure to check the glove box with registration papers. More likely than not you will have papers that are out of date. It is illegal to drive a car in US without proper registration.
if you're thinking about using zip car you should definitely reconsider you would save money by using Uber or Lyft and it would be much more convenient. Zipcar charged me $240 for what should've been a $28 trip and even if they had charged me the accurate amount it is such a stressful headache to try and find the car and return it in the allotted amount of time because you can only rent it for blocks of time starting and ending on the hour and it can take an hour just to find and start the car and then they charge you whatever they want and it has no relevance to what actually happened. I contacted Zipcar about this ridiculous charge and they say they will get back to me within 24 hours but as it stands they've taken $240 out of my bank account when I returned the car ahead of time and had it for less than two hours.
Really creative service. Love the concept, somewhat easy to use, and somewhat affordable… until you finish your ride and suddenly there are 4 rows of extra charges. Would have enjoyed the service more if they were more transparent about their pricing. I paid $20/hr for a car that was supposed to be $13/hr??? Then I had to call the help line because the car wouldn’t start, wasting the first 15min of my travel. Then I tried to extend the trip only for the app to stop working and the phone lines to go silent. I arrived 10min late and was charged $50. Upon reviewing the receipt, there were an additional $8 in random fees. A ride that was supposed to be $31 ended up being $98
I rented the car for 6 hours one day, I forgot my scooter inside. Contacted Zipcar they kept telling me to meet the next person but kept giving me wrong times to show up and everytime I showed up the car wasn’t there, when I was finally able to book a car for a time and get my scooter back( keep in mind all I did was unlock the car grab my scooter then lock the car and end trip) I was charged a $65.13 late fee for that day, I contacted them to get my money back since I clearly didn’t drop it off late. They told me “since it’s your first time dropping it off late we’ll refund you “. I didn’t care they said that at least I got my money back right ? Wrong I was only refunded $53.62 .
Been a subscriber with Zipcar for over a year. Never had one good experience: - dirty cars - cars parking lots have no Internet coverage (good luck connect to the app to end or start a trip) - continuous technical issues with the app; when using the same account on different phones - bad customer service (most of the time)
I ordered a zipcar and while driving an alert for tire pressure popped up. They told me to put air in tires. It wad 20 degrees But I did. Alert stayed on. I advised I was concerned to drive. Customer service was terrible. Eventually roadside assistance showed up and told me someone had disabled the sensors: so the alert was to be expected by zipcar. He checked the tire pressure. Or was 2x the appropriate pressure. Everyone had a low tire pressure alert and was adding air. Dangerous and horrible experience
Customer Service is extremely horrible they constantly shut off your cars in the middle of use which afterwards you have to call for them to restart the car app is horrible everything about this organization is horrible all representatives have no clue what their doing or talking about just plain horrible
Don’t bother with this service if you are looking for affordability because it’s almost certain that you will incur a fee for something within your first few trips $50 fee plus a 1/2 hour additional charge for being 1 minute late then $30 charge for gas that was charged 3 days after trip ended and gas is included in rental but the gauge read 30% fuel and even the app recorded a fuel level of 31-34%but 3 days later it decides it was actually below 25% it’s ridiculous there’s no warning for new account and no grace periods then they lie about it’s for customer disruptions that fees are assessed when it’s really about lining their pockets I received only a $7 credit for one of my trips because it wasn’t returned on time from previous driver but the driver was charged $64and the difference goes to zipcar it’s not worth it in the beginning of a new membership.
This company has the worst customer service. They double charge you for the same trip and then they don’t give you anything for it other than I’m sorry for the inconvenience and you gotta wait 3 to 5 business days for you to get your money back into your account. This is a horrible, horrible company.
First and last time using this Service; I was hitting with $85 violation fee 2 months after I booked; completely messed up my money for the weak; when I tried to dispute the charge, the first representative hung up the phone on me and then when I requested a supervisor; I was told they couldn’t handle my situation. So what are you guys for then? Useless employees and scammy practices. You’re better off using enterprise. Screw Zipcar.
The cars interior is dirty , nice cars but you would need to bring your own cleaning supplies
I signed up for Zipcar and paid $20 to sign up and didn’t even use the service because they removed my account. I want my money back but I can’t even sign into my account.
I would’ve given it more stars, but my last three out of four rides. The car has been either filthy or smelled like marijuana. This latest ride wasn’t bad at all.
Gas card doesn’t work. You have to return the car with gas and after two gas stations I paid with my card because there was a button to get reimbursed. Of course they don’t want to reimburse even with a receipt.
I used Zipcar once and was charged $120 over my already expensive rental for being 20min late and being slightly over their strict mileage limits. Customer service experience also very poor. Would not never recommend Zip.
Taking the end of the trip and now I cannot lock it again that I’m outside
No help customer service was horrible
Title says it all. Zipcar’s customer service is terrible. They have outsourced it to India and the representatives they hired are extremely rude. They don’t really care if the quality of the cars is bad. They will do the absolute minimum to remedy (if at all). Had a car that reaked. They refused to compensate for poor experience. Was stuck with this car for 24 hours. They then tried to make some sly comments how I was at fault for the dirty car. I honestly don’t know how people rating this service 5 stars. They must be reporting bad reviews.
They switch my car location from right next to my house to a 25 minute drive away and won’t reimburse me for time or taxi to go pick it up, their cars often don’t work. This company is absolute trash
This is good for when you need something right then and there they need to expand their locations to get a five star but overall customer service is amazing everything about the the service is amazing
My account was closed for no reason and no clarification provided. It was less than 24hrs of account creation, they charged full membership fees and monthly protection fees.
Terrible customer service. Employees treat customers however they want to. Zip car also over charges you a claim they don’t see where they overcharged. This company is truly cheap an disgusting. Also their cars are always dirty on the inside or outside
It's too expensive. Customer support isn't very good. If a user has problems with the car or the app, you'll have to wait a long time for help from customer support. The last time I called the support call center, I waited for 40 minutes. I couldn’t start the car because the app was glitching. Meanwhile, the rental time had already started, and I could only wait for a response from support. After 40 minutes, they answered the call and gave me another car from the same parking lot, adjusting the rental time to account for the delay. However, they didn’t refund me for the 40 minutes I had already spent waiting for support, and I was still charged for that time. Essentially, they just moved the rental period later, as if I had started the rental later, but I still paid for those 40 minutes of waiting. Later, when I tried to return the car on time, the app glitched again and wouldn’t let me end the rental, even though I arrived at the return location on time. The app kept tracking time and charged me for the extra minutes while I was trying to contact support again. Despite returning the car on time, they never refunded me for the extra charges for the time I couldn’t end the rental due to the app issues. It seems like this company is irresponsible toward its customers. They should follow basic service standards, like those in European car-sharing services. Despite the highest rental prices, this service is the most frustrating. Every time I used it, something went wrong.
